Agnes Varnum is a community builder, event producer and consultant to media organizations looking to develop events. As the director of events at The Texas Tribune, Agnes produced over 350 conversations and symposiums up, down and across Texas, including the annual Texas Tribune Festival. Using data and iteration, she drove audience growth and ticket sales while presenting a best-in-class ideas event, eventually drawing close to 10K people to the annual gathering. As deputy director of the Revenue Lab, she designed an eight-week workshop to help news organizations develop and hone their event strategies. Since 2021, she’s been consulting and developing custom event plans. When she’s not dreaming up event ideas for news organizations to make money, she’s exploring her adopted city of Austin, Texas with her family.
